What a full villa renovation usually includes
A complete villa renovation can include demolition, layout changes, structural alterations, new electrical and plumbing, kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, windows and final finishes, along with whatever the outside needs to match. Few projects contain all of it, and the ones that do are closer to a complete refurbishment than a renovation.
The line matters when you are comparing prices. A quote that assumes the electrical installation stays and a quote that assumes it is replaced are not describing the same job, and the difference is rarely small on a villa built before the current regulations.
The same is true of the structure. Removing a wall to open a kitchen into a living room is a different piece of work depending on whether that wall is holding the floor above it up, and the answer is not always obvious from looking at it.

How long does a villa renovation take?
It depends on how much of the property is being touched and on whether the structure changes. A full villa renovation is usually measured in months rather than weeks, and the permitting and the strip out often take longer than people expect because that is when the unknowns surface.
